About ISCP/SKATZ®

The International Skateboard Certification Program (ISCP/SKATZ®) is a recognized skateboard instructor training and development program dedicated to helping instructors deliver safe, progressive, high-quality skateboarding instruction.

Our SKATZ® teaching system—Stance, Kicks, Axles, Transfers and Zen—provides a structured progression for skateboarders of different ages and abilities, with a strong emphasis on safety, skill development, confidence, positive experiences and personal growth.

Our program is designed for participants ages 5 and up and incorporates progressive skill development, lesson planning, safety, park etiquette, equipment awareness and leadership development.

The Opportunity
We are looking for an enthusiastic and responsible Skateboard Instructor to join our instructor network and help introduce and develop the sport of skateboarding in a safe, positive and supportive environment.

The successful candidate will be passionate about skateboarding and enjoy helping others learn, improve and gain confidence.
This position is ideal for someone who wants to combine their love of skateboarding with coaching, teaching, leadership and working with young people.

Key Responsibilities
• Deliver safe, fun and engaging skateboard lessons.
• Teach students according to their individual abilities and progression.
• Follow the ISCP/SKATZ® progressive teaching methodology.
• Teach fundamental skateboarding skills including stance, balance, pushing, turning, stopping and basic manoeuvres.
• Progress students toward ramps, transitions, tricks and other appropriate skills as their abilities develop.
• Maintain a strong focus on safety, protective equipment and appropriate skatepark etiquette.
• Lead warm-ups and incorporate appropriate stretching and preparation into lessons.
• Create and follow effective lesson plans.
• Provide positive encouragement and constructive feedback.
• Adapt lessons to accommodate different ages, abilities and learning styles.
• Monitor students throughout each session and respond appropriately to changing conditions or individual needs.
• Help create a welcoming and inclusive environment where students feel comfortable learning and progressing.
• Maintain professional communication with students, parents/guardians and program staff.
• Assist with maintaining a positive image of ISCP/SKATZ® and its standards.

What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will have:
• Strong skateboarding ability and a solid understanding of skateboarding fundamentals.
• A genuine interest in teaching and helping others develop.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, enthusiasm and a positive attitude.
• The ability to work effectively with children and youth.
• A strong understanding of skatepark safety and etiquette.
• The ability to demonstrate and explain skateboarding skills clearly.
• Reliability, professionalism and good judgment.
• A willingness to continue learning and developing as an instructor.
Previous coaching, teaching, camp counselling, recreation or youth-program experience is an asset.
Experience working with children, youth or beginner skateboarders is particularly valuable.

ISCP/SKATZ® Certification
ISCP/SKATZ® certification is an asset and may be required depending on the program or location.
Candidates who are not currently certified may be considered for the position and may be eligible to complete ISCP/SKATZ® instructor training.
ISCP/SKATZ® Level 1 training combines online learning with live instruction and practical evaluation. The certification process covers areas including instructor responsibilities, child development, safety, equipment, lesson planning, positive reinforcement, modifying lessons and practical teaching skills.
